My theme for 2011: “PROACTIVE, NOT REACTIVE”.

Unlike my themes for the last 2 years, this year’s theme is highly internal. Toward the end of 2010 I started to realize that I am a highly reactive individual, that (largely due to my childhood as an Army brat) I have grown accustomed to continually adapting to whatever situation I’m currently in and morphing into whatever it is I think I need to be in order to assimilate/belong. Although this may sound like a useful/practical way of living, it does not necessarily lead to being truly happy, as my happiness is always contingent upon external circumstances.

So in 2011, I’ve made it my focus to look inside myself and discover who I really am, what I really want, the way I want to be…and unapologetically be myself in each and every situation I encounter throughout the year. My hope is that by the end of the year I will be quite comfortable in my own skin, that I will no longer second guess myself, that I will no longer feel guilty about pursuing happiness and my chosen direction in life, that I will move forward proactively and not allow external stimuli to adversely affect me.

I designed this while spending my 2011 summer in Berlin. The persistent sentiment during my time there: "I love Berlin, but I MISS NY."

A reminder to keep putting yourself out there, looking for true love, knowing that for ALL the disappointments, it only takes ONE person to make it all worth it in the end.

In 2002 I followed up my first "Infinity Series" image collection with my 2nd, entitled "Slice". Here the focus was less on 3D objects and more on layers of flat 2D shapes. As with the "Rayform" title, "Slice" was sold/distributed through Digital Vision (eventually acquired by Getty Images), and layered .PSD files were included on the discs so that customers could customize the artwork as they deemed fit.

In 2006, I competed in the 2nd Cut & Paste digital design tournament. These are my designs for the 3 rounds, each created within 15 minutes.
